Purpose
Degreasing and alkaline treatment of carbon and alloy steel surfaces to remove deposits containing pyrophoric compounds. Supplied as a liquid concentrate; the working solution is prepared on site.
What it removes
- Deposits with iron sulphides that form when handling sour petroleum products and hydrogen sulphide.
- Associated petroleum products and organic contamination.
Where it is used
- Tanks for sour crude oil and petroleum products.
- Distillation columns and their internals.
- Heat exchangers and pipelines in refineries, petrochemical and gas processing plants.
Place in the cleaning process
Treatment before opening and repair. On contact with air, pyrophoric deposits oxidise with heat release and can ignite spontaneously; the treatment reduces this risk when equipment is prepared for repair. Further cleaning depends on the task, see AlphaCleaner AF.
